The Bergen City Guide

Holzweiler family, Stian Blipp and our very own Jamina, show us around their beloved Bergen, taking our rainwear icons for a spin.

“Fun fact: Bergen used to be Norway’s capital until Oslo took that spot.” Norwegian television presenter, comedian, and musician, Stian Blipp says as he shows us around the city alongside his wife - one of our own, Head of Wholesale Scandinavia at Holzweiler, and lifestyle influencer, Jamina. This place will always hold a special space in the couple's hearts as Stian was born in Salhus.

Coined as the ‘rainy city’ for its notoriously soggy weather forecasts, you don’t want to forget your raincoat when you’re visiting Bergen, just in case. Our new rainwear icons from our Spring/Summer ‘26 collection are the perfect light layer to always carry with you, come rain or shine. Stylish pair Jamina and Stian deliver a masterclass in how you would embrace unpredictable spring downpours in next-level sleek; styling our practical yet fashionable and protective Fane and Flow jackets in their own unique ways alongside their ready-to-wear favourites from our new season.

Inspired by nature, made for everywhere, our new rainwear for Spring/Summer '26 is grounded in earthy and refined taupe, available in versatile short or longline silhouettes to adapt to your ensemble. They’re designed with transitional weather in mind, crafted from a technical fabric that promises waterproof capability and breathability.

Discover Stian's favorite spots in our Bergen city guide, and don't forget to check out our own store whilst you’re there..

First Stop: Trekroneren

If you come and go without hitting up one of Bergen’s most iconic spots, then you haven’t really experienced the city. Snack bar Trekroneren is Bergen’s worst-kept secret, drawing in locals and tourists from far and wide alike with their culinary experience which has earned them must-visit status. They used to sell hot dogs for 3 NOK back in the day - hence the name. When hunger strikes, their hearty hot dogs will satiate your appetite; and to experience maximum Norwegian nostalgia, make sure you add ‘saft’ to yours as per their OG menu from back in the day.

Second Stop: Holzweiler Bergen

Despite the sunshine whilst we were there, it’s always better to be ready for rain in Bergen - the city with around 200 rainy days a year. As showers are usually just around the corner, come and say hei to our friendly team at our Bergen store who will get you ready for any weather. Located in the Art Deco-inspired 1930’s Kroepelingården building on Strandgaten 18, the space echoes the coastal landscape of the West coast of Norway.

Third Stop: Fløyen

It may be a tourist trap, but one of Norway’s best-known and most visited attractions, Fløibanen, is an essential when you come to Bergen. It’s so beautiful, you can see the whole city from up here. As a kid, Stian always imagined throwing a frisbee from up at the top to see how far it would go! Not only reserved for tourists, the locals use Fløyen a lot too, as you only have to take the tram for 10 mins and you are on the mountain and in the forest, boasting breathtaking hiking trails, and even a mini troll forest. When locals come up there, Stian thinks everyone has the same feeling as him, of being proud to be a Bergenser - proud of their city.

Penultimate Stop: Hallaisen

Because life’s too short to resist a sweet treat! Refuel with a homemade ice cream at iconic Bergen-inspired parlour, Hallaisen, located within the heart of the historic city centre along the medieval trading street Skostredet. It’s no surprise it’s Jamina and Stian’s favourite - the founders of the ice cream bar use only the best West Norwegian ingredients they can get their hands on, found growing along the Norwegian coastline and mountain-tops; fused with a selection of sustainable ingredients from all over the world.

Final Stop: Hoggorm

End your whistlestop tour on a high with delicious pizza and wine at Hoggorm, one of Stian’s most-loved places. It’s hard for him to resist, conveniently located right next to a place he tends to work a lot, Grieghallen, making it the ideal spot for him to pop into after a show. His go-to order? The bacon and pineapple, which may be controversial for some but he swears it will convince the ‘pineapple on pizza’-haters. Give it a go!
