Holzweiler x Snøhetta

Through an ongoing collaboration, the architects from Snøhetta have designed multiple projects for Holzweiler. The strong relation started out with the company designing conceptual furniture for the Holzweiler showroom during Paris Fashion Week in 2018

Prinsens Gate - Flagship store

In the spring of 2019, Holzweiler’s new Snøhetta designed showroom and flagship store in Prinsens Gate, Oslo, were completed.

Upon entering the flagship store, guests are welcomed by an unconventional, curved passage made of paper that lends a serene ambience to the store. The entrance resets the visitor’s mind and allows them to enter the space at the heart of the store. Visitors are then greeted by a room covered with 3,000 handmade, ragged, mustard-colored tiles that create a warm and vibrant backdrop for the displayed garments.

Central to the brand’s identity is the grid structure that can be seen in the stripe and square pattern typically found in the brand’s scarves and other central garments. The notion of the grid has been picked up and developed in various ways throughout the design of the flagship store through a flexible shelf system that is present throughout the store.

Lysaker Brygge - Headquarters and Showroom

At Lysaker Brygge, located just outside Oslo, Snøhetta has created a new home for Holzweiler. Our headquarter has been designed as a multifunctional space, accommodating both a showroom and a design studio, as well as offices in which the team works.

The renovation transformed an open location in front of the Oslo fjord into a welcoming and flexible space that facilitates showcasing of Holzweiler’s fashion items and adapts to the brand’s ever-changing needs across seasons and collections.

Fornebu - Holzweiler Multi

Located at Fornebu outside of Oslo, Snøhetta has redesigned and expanded our own multi-brand store.

The store is designed to allow customers to experience products in dialogue with one another in an organic yet curated way. The space is organized around large, custom-made pieces of furniture that work together to create a distinct atmosphere through their function, form and colour.

Conceptually, the space works with themes such as suspension, perception, and prepositions – how being around or in between the central artifacts affects one’s experience of being in the space beyond the physical presence.

Bergen With Ali Gallefoss

One of our latest projects with Snøhetta, was a special collab between the architects and artist Ali Gallefoss to design our first mono-brand store to be located outside of Oslo. Bergen is the fourth store collaboration between Holzweiler and Snøhetta.

Located in the Art deco inspired 1930’s Kroepelingården building on Strandgaten 18 in Bergen, the design of the Holzweiler Bergen store is inspired by the Norwegian West Coast’s landscape and coastal conditions to create a new interface with an organic spatial expression.

Holzweiler Platz

Our most recent partnership with Snøhetta, was through the development of Holzweiler Platz. The retail universe is our first space to hold both a retail area and restaurant.

Drawing inspiration from the immediate surroundings, the element of water is central to the design of Holzweiler Platz. As well as being a symbol of life, energy and hope, water as an element unifies people and places located afar from each other. Elements representing islands and water unify the retail and restaurant section of the new Holzweiler Platz, making it fluid and waterlike. The visitors are visually guided through the store by the curved and sinuous lines permeating the space, reflected through the racks of stainless steel, floating wooden roof lamellas and curved walls. The oiled oak wooden floor is designed as a distinct geometric floor pattern shaped from leftover pieces and cut-offs, adding to the light and airy atmosphere.

Holzweiler Platz is a collage of spaces, representing overlapping of moments of the past, future and present. By bringing in aspects from other Holzweiler stores, Holzweiler Platz is a place where people can sit together, find treasures from past collections, share a moment, discover new directions, and experience momentary artistic collaborations.
