HOLZWEILER PLATZ (OSLO)
Operagata 61D (Oslobukta), 0194 Oslo.
Our Pre-Fall 2022 collection entitled “Festival” is inspired by the feeling of bringing people together through dance and music, so it made sense for us to connect with someone in our local music community. Meet Sebastian Zalo, an up-and-coming Norwegian musician.
How would you describe your artistry?
I try to follow my intuition - I’m just an artist who tries to express the things that lie a bit deeper within and I feel in my body that I have to express that.
Describe how you like to dress on stage?
I like to be relaxed and not feel that I’m wearing something excessive. I usually like to wear something oversized - minimal pieces like a tee and some jeans. Sometimes I’m wearing something and then take it off after a while.
What’s the best part about attending a festival and the best part about performing at one?
Attending a festival is about the vibes in the audience, at the camps and around the festival grounds. The best part about being onstage is the same vibe, but there, you get it aimed towards you. You get that love and that’s nice. Just now, for example, there were so many people who just sang along and knew every word, and I removed my earbuds just to sing along with them. That felt good.
Do you feel like your artist self and your regular self are different or alike?
I mean, you will always perceive me differently when you meet me, but I wouldn’t say that it’s two different people. But then again, it’s different to meet a person face to face than to listen to their music. I try to express what’s genuine for me. There are a lot of the things that I feel are important in the songs, I don’t pretend that I’m someone I’m not.
What’s your favourite song to perform?
It depends on the concert, but “Kjære Frykten Min" is really nice. There’s usually a lot of people that know it and sing along in the background.
