Sustainable thinking, working and living
To be a contemporary fashion brand today requires a large amount of responsibly, both in terms of environmental footprint and when it comes to building a long-term ecological balance through a more sustainable way of living. Holzweiler’s approach to sustainability in fashion is a work in progress, and through this approach, we continuously explore new realms of sustainability through all areas of running a fashion brand.
As we continue to shape our long term strategy for corporate social responsibility, we will share it with you along the way as we ruthlessly work towards being better in all possible fields.
Products that stand the test of time
Holzweiler aims to produce clothing and long-lasting products that can stand the test of time by creating tried and true classics that becomes meaningful to the wearer, for years to come. At Holzweiler, we encourage all our customers to look after their products and opting for alterations and reparations if needed, instead of discarding the item once it’s worn in. Our Holzweiler store staff will gladly help you fix the products if they do not hold the standard they should. Even though all our products are recyclable, please consider donating products discarding them.
Minimal waste, better materials
Being a company with minimal plastic waste has become a major focal point for Holzweiler and as we continue to reduce our use of plastic, we aim to eliminate all plastic in our sampling process by 2021. For our products made in Europe, we have successfully removed all plastic packaging. All of Holzweiler’s items are now being packed in bags that are made out of innovative bioplastic, which is based on plant components that are 100% biodegradable. Our Holzweiler scarves are made out of recycled wool, produced with recycled water, while our denim production is handled with fewer water processes in organic cotton and with non-toxic dyes.
When it comes to production, Holzweiler believes in the power of collaboration, as well as opting for long term relationships with our manufacturers. It enables us to continuously explore new realms of sustainability together while working together as a unified team across continents. Through this method, we are able to share our values, secure fair trade and provide good work conditions for everyone involved in the process of creating our collections. All our producers and production facilities are screened and evaluated to guarantee good working conditions and minimising carbon footprints across the board.
With Holzweiler’s rigorous approach to sustainable production, the continuing challenge is using certified materials that comply with the environmental requirements of fashion production today. Holzweiler are members of ETI Norway, who work thoroughly towards creating a more ethical trade industry where we together commit to continuously progress in our sustainability work.
